The Story Behind the "Mix Breed Navy" Print

This print is an exercise in simplification—a tribute to the uniqueness of mixed-breed animals. A mixed-breed pet doesn’t have a distinct name or lineage, so people simply call them Little Yellow, Little Flower, Little Black, or Little Tiger.

Dodo was a mixed-breed dog—white with tabby stripes, a slim waist, and an energetic spirit. On my days off, I would take her for walks along the riverside park—our favorite time together. I loved watching her wagging tail and joyful steps as she explored the world.

Beyond the levee, we’d step into her territory. I’d unclip her leash, and she would dash across the grass, connecting with every scent on every tree and plant as if they were part of her home. The riverside was full of unseen dogs, hiding in the bushes or behind trees, only emerging late at night to search for food.

In many ways, we are all "mixed-breed"—we don’t choose where we come from. Our identities are pieced together from countless fragments, forming who we are today. In that sense, we are all part of the "Mixed" story.

Design & Material

At Jian Jian, our fabric prints draw inspiration from Taiwan’s urban landscapes—the unnoticed beauty of corrugated metal rooftops, the weathered edges of rain-worn walls. Each piece is cut from an infinitely continuous pattern, ensuring that every bag has a unique print layout.
