The Story Behind the Mix Breed Print

This fabric pattern is an exercise in simplification, and it tells a story about Mix. Mix is a unique existence, one whose name you can’t quite pin down, so you simply call it Little Yellow, Little Flower, Little Black, Little Tiger.

Dodo is also a Mix—a white-tabby cat with a slim waist. On my days off, I take her for walks in the riverside park, which is my favorite time together. I love watching her swaying hips and lively steps.

Once we cross the embankment, we enter her domain. I let go of the leash, allowing her to run freely on the grass. Every tree and plant in the riverside park connects with her in some way, as if it’s a place she instinctively knows as home. There are many dogs in the park; you don’t see them during the day as they hide in the bushes or behind trees, coming out only in the quiet of night to search for food.

We are all like Mix because we can’t choose where we come from. Our lives are pieced together from thousands of fragments, eventually forming who we are today. In a way, we are all Mix.
